About Lucena Foundation

Mission Statement

To be innovative and leaders in the field of CAMHS through the provision of public health education, training and development of primary care interventions in an evidence based way.

This service is to be provided in the tradition and ethos of St. John of God Hospitaller Services.

Goals and objectives of the Lucena Foundation

We propose the following:

  • To design and provide programmes to facilitate, educate and train a wide and varied audience e.g. Mental Health clinicians, Primary Care Clinicians, Allied Health Professionals, Teachers and Parents.
  • To identify children at risk who will benefit from 'Early Intervention' and to offer training in these programmes.
  • To identify and offer cost effective programmes, not currently available, and to assist timely and effective intervention by professionals working with children from a wide range of social backgrounds.
  • Act as a consultancy service to National and Local Government and other CAMHS Services and Community Care.

Rationale

The Lucena Foundation was set up to provide, in the area of CAMHS:
(CAMHS: - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)

  • Education
  • Training
  • Research

for Professionals, Community Care Workers, Teachers and Parents:

  • It is intended that the Foundation will be entirely separate from, although allied with, the Lucena Clinic service and that it will be self-funding.
